Attendance : With respect to a course where examination at the end of each academic session is prescribed, attendance of each student will be calculated for each year separately and this will, in no case, be less than 75% of the total number of lectures delivered. If the percentage of attendance of a student lies between 60% and 74%, she will be considered Non-Collegiate and she has to pay fine (to be fixed by the College) to become eligible to sit for the respective examinations. If the percentage of a student falls below 60%, she will be declared dis-Collegiate and she will be debarred from appearing at any examination.
Absence and Leave : Students must be present in the College (i.e., students must attend their classes) from the first day of the FIRST ACADEMIC SESSION. Students who are absent (without prior information to the Principal) for fifteen days at a stretch (to be counted from the first day in the College) are liable to have their names removed from the rolls. Students must apply for leave in writing at the onset of the illness. Medical leave applications must be supported by a certificate from a recognized medical practitioner. All leave applications must clearly state the roll number, class, name and subjects taken as well as the names of the teacher teaching those subjects. Such applications should be submitted within one week of re-joining to the respective departments for Honours students and to the Principal for other students.
Discipline/Code Of Conduct : Discipline is the key word to be strictly adhered to by the students. No students shall engage in conduct likely to disrupt teaching or study or examination or administration, or to damage or deface any property of the College. The procedures of students' welfare, which need to be strengthened and expanded, should be kept separate from the procedures of the discipline of the students. Students must not congregate in the foyer and corridors or speak loudly near the classroom and office block. The College premises and lawns must be kept clean. The students are requested to use the litter-bins provided for the purpose. Students must not receive visitors in this college during college hours. In case of extreme urgency, they may approach the Principal whose decision shall be final. Office telephones are not meant for the use of students except in cases of emergency. Each student must get her identity card from the College. A duplicate card will be issued at the Principal's discretion only if the original card is lost and the loss is genuine. Duplicate will be issued on payment of Rs. 5/-. Day students will not have their personal letters addressed to the college. Students are expected to attend college functions. Whenever the residential address of any student changes, the same must be intimated to the College office without delay under the signature of parents/guardians. No students suffering from any contagious or infectious diseases will be permitted in the College.
Dress Code : The students are allowed to wear saree or salwar kameez on regular working days and only saree on special occasions.
Prohibition of Ragging(West Bengal Act XIII of 2000) : “Ragging” means the doing of any act which causes, or is likely to cause, any physical,
psychological or physiological harm or apprehension or shame or embarrassment to a student, and includes :
1. Teasing or abusing of, playing practical joke on, or causing
hurt to, any student, or
2. Asking any student to do any act, or perform any thing, which
he/she would not, in the ordinary course, be willing to do or perform.
Ragging within an educational institution is hereby prohibited. No person shall participate in, abet, or propagate ragging
in the educational institution.
